London (KurdishMedia.com) 26 February 2008: In an embarrassing event for Talabani, the head of the PUK, people of the Kurdistani city of Amed demonstrated with huge banners stating: Talabani be warrant: if [Turkey] have us for lunch; [Turkey] will have you for dinner.
Thousands of people demonstrated in the northern Kurdistan regional capital, Amed, chanting anti Turkish slogans and holding huge banners.
The anti-Talabani protest was the result of the reports that revealed Talabani (73) has allowed the Turkish helicopters to use his headquarters for attacks on northern Kurds.
Southern Kurdish cities have also either planned protests or they are already protesting.
The situation in both sides of the border, according to the locals who talked to KurdishMedia.com, is extremely fragile and it may be the case that Turkey and Talabani miscalculated the influence of Kurds this time. No one in Talabani’s party, the PUK, has yet spoken out against Talabani’s cooperation with Turks.
On local stated, "The conflict would not be without victims."
