During and after Newroz celebrations in the northern Kurdistan and in Turkey, Turkish security forces have not ceased torture and maltreatment in Kurdish populated cities such as Yuksekova (Gever, Colemerg), Wan and Siirt. Last week during celebrations two Kurdish civilians were killed and many people who took part in their national new year, Newroz, were maltreated and tortured in the open squares. One of those mistreated who exposed to inhuman treatment by the Turkish police was a 15 years old Kurdish youth from Gever. On the street without taking him to custody or charging him, his arm was broken by the Turkish security forces. For more than one week we have been watching these kinds of ill treatment of Kurdish people in Gever, Wan, Izmir and Sért. These repeated scenes are the real face of ruling AKP party.

A few weeks ago Iraqi president Jalal Talabani via the Turkish media had stated that AKP was a democratically elected party and it should be respected by Kurds. Similarly, Nechirvan Barzani, the Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government, stated in an interview that Turkey was Kurds’ elder brother.

Also last week a Kurdish journalist from Turkey, Mehmet Metiner in his interview with the southern Kurdistan based Kurdish Globe stated that “the AKP government, at least in discourse, differs from the militarist/bureaucratic elite in Turkey”.

However, until now none of the members of ruling AKP has given a press statement against maltreatment and torture of Kurds. On the contrary, most of the Kurdish parliamentarians of the AKP support these terror acts.

A few years ago when AKP came to power, it claimed that it would democratise Turkey and Turkey would enter EU and the Kurdish issue would be solved. But today we understand that the solution of AKP of the Kurdish question is to subjugate and assimilate them, just like the AKP’s ancestors, Kemalists.

The chairperson of pro-Kurdish DTP, Ahmet Turk, in his group meeting stated that “we witnessed those inhuman practices in Darfur, Palestine. We strictly condemn those who torture and shot at their citizens.”

From the following link you can see live torture of Turkish security forces in Gever. The arm of Kurdish young civilian is broken by the Turkish police. Those visions firstly were presented on Roj TV and at Kurdish daily Gundem via internet, because the publishing of the only Kurdish newspaper is forbidden in Turkey.

In Turkey Kurdish torture is not forbidden, but talking about it is.

The link shows how a Turkish security man breaks the arm of a 15 year old Kurdish youth in real time to be recorded on the camera.

Caution: not suitable for children or people with illnesses:

In Turkey, torturing Kurds is not illegal, talking about it is.
