Citizen detained for four years incommunicado by PUK, Hawlati

London (KurdishMedia.com) 22 August 2008: A citizen from the governance of Sulemani has been missing for the last four years, biweekly Hawlati reported on 10 August 2008.

Hidayet Abdulwahab Salih was arrested on 18 November 2004 in a checkpoint around Sulemani.

In an interview, Abdulwahab’s wife, Ms Snniya Ahmed, stated to Hawlati that she lost all contacts with her husband, Hidayat Abdulwahab Salih, since 18 November 2004 and his whereabouts is unknown.

Ms Ahmed has been approaching the local authorities and influential figures of the security services to find out his husband’s whereabouts in vain. Ms Ahmed has two children and has been helped financially by family members and relatives.

Salih's mother, according to Hawlati, suffers from depression and trauma due to missing her son and has had strokes few times since then. She met Omer Fatah, member of PUK Politburo and the deputy prime minister of KRG, who informed her that Dezgayi Zanyari (intelligence agency of PUK) has arrested her son.
