Family members allege that PUK tortured a detainee, Awene

London (KurdishMedia.com) 22 August 2008: Ahmed Samad has been arrested by the security forces in Sulemani for two and a half years without any trial, weekly Awene reported on 15 July 2008.

Ahmed Samad was arrested on 04 December 2005 without any trial and his family members allege that Samad has been tortured; his fingernails have been extracted, squashed under concrete blocks, wrapped with blocks of ice and wet the floor of his cell. The family also alleged that he was kept in solitary confinement for two years.
